STOP: Do You Qualify?
Eligibility Criteria
All programs
You must live within Hays County.
All required documents must be submitted completely and verified prior to assistance.
Eviction Prevention
You must live within the City of San Marcos.
Your total amount due is between $500-$3000.
You can provide documentation of financial hardship and prior stability in payment.
You can demonstrate the ability to pay your own rent and utilities beyond the program.
Transitional Housing
You can pass a drug screen (or have prescription proof for controlled substances)
Pets are not allowed in the shelter
Required Documents
Please upload documents on the attached application, with the exception of ID cards which you will bring to your appointment.

Please bring social security cards for everyone who lives in the household, and photo IDs for every adult applicant.

1) Last two current pay stubs for anyone living in the household.
If you are self-employed, you will need two bank statements showing the name of the business.
2) Documentation of any supplemental income (AFDC, SS, SSI, SNAP, SSDI, child support, unemployment, etc.)

Lease/mortgage agreement that shows you are the resident, your address, and how much you pay monthly.

Letter from landlord or lender on letterhead with their name, mailing address, and phone number so that we can contact them. This letter must state how much you pay each month and how much you currently owe.

A copy of the most recent bill with which you need assistance.

Documentation of your eviction status.
Ready to apply? Review the requirements above, gather all documents, then apply in one sitting. You will receive confirmation of form submission. Do not apply more than once. Duplicates will only slow down the review and appointment process.
